Carbonate-rich Magmas and Their Mineral Deposits

Carbonate-rich magmas—specifically carbonatites and kimberlites—as sources of iron ores, phosphates, rare earth elements, niobium, and diamonds. Origins, geological characteristics, and exploration strategies of carbonatites and kimberlites as potential hosts of economically significant mineral deposits. Open to students with appropriate background courses (ex. one of EOSC_V 321, EOSC_V 322, or a course in Igneous or/and Metamorphic Petrology with a lab component from another university).
